What's Included

Everything you need,
ready to print or file

Every CAD design project comes with a complete package, not just a 3D file. We make sure you have everything for manufacturing, documentation, and protection of your work.

Print-Ready CAD Files

You receive the native source file (STEP, IGES, or Fusion 360) plus STL and OBJ exports, optimized for FDM 3D printing, ready to send to any manufacturer.

Always included

Technical Drawing Package

Dimensioned 2D engineering drawings with tolerances, material callouts, and annotations, suitable for patent applications, manufacturing, and supplier RFQs.

Included on most jobs

Patent-Ready Documentation

Our drawing package meets USPTO standards with exploded views, cross-sections, and figure numbering suitable for provisional and utility patent filings.

Included on most jobs

Mass Production Optimization

We design with manufacturing in mind, wall thicknesses, draft angles, assembly tolerances, and infill strategies so your parts work right at any volume from day one.

Always included

Physical Sample Print

On most design projects we include a physical 3D-printed sample so you can hold, test, and approve the part before committing to full production, no extra charge.

Included on most jobs

Free Design Consultation

Every project starts with a 15-minute call with one of our engineers. We review your concept, suggest materials, flag potential issues, and lock in scope, before any work begins.

Always included

How It Works

From idea to part in four steps

1

Free Consultation

Book a 15-minute call or send us a message. Share your sketch, photo, or concept, anything works as a starting point.

2

CAD Modeling

Our engineers build your 3D model, optimized for the intended manufacturing process, material, and end use.

3

Review & Revise

We share the model for your feedback. Revisions are included until you're completely satisfied with the design.

4

Print & Deliver

Approve the design and we print your sample in San Diego, often next day. All final files are delivered digitally.

Starting Points

We design from anything

No 3D file? No problem. Our engineers work from whatever reference you have available.

From a Sketch or Drawing

Hand us a napkin sketch, whiteboard photo, or rough dimensioned drawing. We turn it into a precise 3D model ready for manufacturing.

From a Photo or Reference

Have a physical product or reference image? We measure and reconstruct a fully parametric CAD model you can modify and manufacture.

Reverse Engineering

Need to replicate or improve a part with no digital file? We reverse-engineer it into a clean CAD model ready for production.

File Repair & Conversion

Broken STL, non-manifold mesh, or wrong file format? We clean up geometry errors and convert to any format your workflow requires.

Professional-grade tools

We work in the software your engineers already use

Fusion 360

Parametric modeling, simulation and CAM for mechanical parts

SolidWorks

Industry standard for complex assemblies and engineering drawings

Rhino 3D

Organic shapes, industrial design, and free-form surfacing

FAQ

Common questions

Is this the same team as 037 Designs?
Yes, CAD Design by 037 is the same engineering team that operated under the 037 Designs name. We've joined Takt 3D to offer a complete end-to-end service: design AND in-house printing under one roof in San Diego.
What do I need to bring to get started?
Anything works, a sketch on paper, a photo, rough measurements, or even just a verbal description of what you need. We start with a free 15-minute consultation and figure out the scope together.
Do I get the actual CAD files or just prints?
You own your files. Every project delivers the native CAD source file (STEP, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks) plus STL/OBJ exports. The files are yours to use with any manufacturer, anywhere, with no restrictions.
Can the drawings be used for a patent application?
Yes. Our technical drawing package is prepared to USPTO standards with the figure numbering, exploded views, and cross-sections required for both provisional and utility patent applications. We recommend working with a patent attorney for the legal filing process itself.
How long does a typical CAD project take?
Simple parts are modeled and ready for review in 24–48 hours. Complex assemblies or reverse engineering projects typically take 3–5 business days for the first draft. Revisions are fast, usually same or next day.
