HONEST COMPARISON

TAKT 3D vs Incept 3D

Two local FDM shops, same city. The short version: if you want to know the rate before you upload a file, TAKT 3D publishes it. If you need Formlabs SLA or want to browse Polymaker filament in person, Incept has that covered.

QUICK DECISION

Which one should you pick?

Different shops are better fits for different jobs. Here's the honest cut.

Pick TAKT 3D if

  • You want to see per-material pricing before uploading your STL
  • You need carbon-fiber nylon (PA6-CF30, 180°C HDT) with a published rate
  • You need Saturday or Sunday contact (we respond same-day on weekends for rush jobs)
  • You like a smaller shop where you talk to the operator, not a sales rep

Pick Incept 3D if

  • You need SLA / Formlabs resin (tiny miniatures, ultra-smooth surfaces, castable jewelry masters)
  • You want to walk into a retail counter and buy Polymaker filament
  • Your job is >50 identical parts and you benefit from a 150+ printer fleet
  • You need a shop open 8:30am (we open at 9:00am)

WHAT INCEPT 3D DOES BETTER

Things we'll acknowledge openly

No shop is best at everything. Here's where Incept 3D wins.

  • Larger FDM fleet (150+ printers) — legit capacity advantage on big production jobs
  • Offers SLA / Formlabs resin, which TAKT does not
  • Polymaker filament retail counter is useful if you want to shop in person
  • Established shop with 22+ Yelp reviews, generally positive on price and service
  • Slightly earlier opening (8:30am vs our 9:00am)

Why we say this out loud: because if you need something Incept 3D genuinely does better, pushing you to us helps nobody. We'd rather earn your trust now by being honest, and earn your next order when the job matches what we do.

vs Incept 3D FAQ

Is TAKT 3D cheaper than Incept 3D?+
Depends on the job — but we publish our rates so you can check yourself before ordering. TAKT PLA is $0.035/cm³ base. Incept doesn't publish a per-cm³ rate, so a direct comparison requires uploading the same file to both quote tools.
Why doesn't Incept 3D publish their pricing?+
We can't speak to their choice. We publish ours because we think buyers deserve to see rates before committing a file. Full rate card is at /pricing.
Does Incept 3D offer SLA and TAKT 3D doesn't?+
Correct. Incept offers Formlabs SLA for resin prints (ultra-smooth surfaces, miniature detail). TAKT is FDM-only. If you need SLA, Incept is the right call locally. For most functional plastics and carbon-fiber composites, FDM at 0.08mm (our Fine preset) is indistinguishable.
Who is closer to downtown San Diego — TAKT or Incept?+
TAKT is slightly closer to downtown (Kearny Mesa, about 15 min via I-15). Incept is in Sorrento Valley, about 20–25 min via I-5. Both are 4 miles apart from each other.
Do you have reviews from customers who switched from Incept?+
We have customers who use both. The common answers we hear: they come to us for FDM when they want published pricing and carbon-fiber nylon; they go to Incept for resin SLA. It's not a winner-takes-all market.
Does TAKT 3D write this compare page in a biased way?+
We try not to. Every "they win" row in the table below is called out explicitly — and the "Pick Incept 3D if…" list is deliberate. We'd rather keep a customer who picks a competitor this time and trusts us next time than push a bad fit.
How recent is this comparison data?+
Last updated April 2026 from the competitor's public website (https://incept3d.com) and third-party review sources. If you spot something stale, email support@takt3d.com and we'll re-check.
