WHY TAKT 3D

Why Teams Choose Us for Carbon Fiber

Three CF Materials on the Shelf

PLA-CF for stiff cosmetic parts, PET-CF for tough functional parts, and PA6-CF30 carbon fiber nylon for production-grade strength. No special-order wait — all three run daily in our San Diego shop.

Published Pricing, Instant Quotes

Carbon fiber quotes elsewhere mean a form and a two-day wait. Upload your STL and see your CF price in seconds — $0.07/cm³ for PLA-CF and PET-CF, $0.123/cm³ for PA6-CF30, published right on our pricing page.

Hardware That Handles Abrasive Fiber

Chopped carbon fiber chews through brass nozzles and prints poorly from a damp spool. Our CF machines run hardened-steel nozzles and filament comes straight from heated dry storage — every job, not just the fussy ones.

Real Strength Numbers

PA6-CF30 prints at 130 MPa tensile and 180°C HDT — we publish the datasheet values we actually see, not brochure maximums. If your part needs a specific margin, we'll tell you which material clears it.

Next-Day Parts, Local Pickup

Most carbon fiber orders are ready the next day. Pick up free at our Kearny Mesa shop (7950 Silverton Ave Ste 205) or ship anywhere in the US for a flat $7.99 UPS Ground.

Drone, Robotics & Defense Experience

Motor mounts that survive heatsoak, end effectors that hold stiffness at speed, brackets that replace machined aluminum — CF parts for San Diego's UAV, robotics, and defense-adjacent teams are our daily bread.

APPLICATIONS

What We Print in Carbon Fiber

Drone & UAV Hardware

Motor mounts, arms, camera gimbals, and antenna brackets. PA6-CF30's 180°C HDT survives motor heatsoak that softens standard filaments mid-flight.

Motor MountsFPV FramesGimbals

Robotics End Effectors

Grippers, tool changers, and arm segments where stiffness-to-weight decides cycle speed. CF nylon holds rigidity without the mass of machined aluminum.

GrippersArm SegmentsStiffness

Jigs, Fixtures & Tooling

Shop-floor fixtures that get dropped, clamped, and heat-cycled. CF-reinforced parts keep their dimensions where unfilled plastics creep.

Under-Hood & Near-Motor Brackets

Automotive and e-mobility brackets that live next to heat sources. 180°C HDT gives real margin where PETG (70°C) and ABS (98°C) tap out.

Aluminum Bracket Replacement

Many machined 6061 brackets are stiffness-driven, not strength-driven — and CF nylon delivers the stiffness at a fraction of the weight and cost, next day instead of next month.

PROCESS

How a Carbon Fiber Order Works

01

Upload Your File

Drop an STL on the instant quote page. Pick PLA-CF, PET-CF, or PA6-CF30 and the real price appears in seconds — no RFQ form, no sales call.

02

We Check Printability

Wall thicknesses, overhangs, and insert bosses get a human review before printing. If a design change would make the part stronger or cheaper, we flag it first.

03

Printed on CF-Ready Machines

Hardened-steel nozzles, heated dry-boxed filament, and profiles tuned per material. PA6-CF30 runs dried to spec — damp nylon is the #1 cause of weak CF parts.

04

Next-Day Pickup or Shipping

Most carbon fiber orders are ready the next day. Free local pickup at 7950 Silverton Ave Ste 205, San Diego, or flat $7.99 UPS Ground nationwide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this continuous carbon fiber or chopped fiber?

Chopped fiber. Our CF materials are filaments loaded with short carbon fibers — PA6-CF30 is nylon 6 with 30% carbon fiber by weight. That's different from continuous-fiber systems, which lay unbroken strands and cost 5–10× more per part. For most brackets, mounts, and fixtures, chopped CF delivers the stiffness win that matters at a price that lets you iterate.

How strong is carbon fiber 3D printing really?

PA6-CF30 prints at 130 MPa tensile strength — roughly 3× standard PLA and stronger than many cast aluminum alloys in tension. Just as important is stiffness: the carbon fill roughly doubles rigidity versus the base polymer, which is why CF parts feel like a different class of object. For stiffness-driven designs, it's a genuine machined-aluminum alternative.

Which carbon fiber material should I choose?

PLA-CF ($0.07/cm³) for stiff, matte, cosmetic or low-heat parts — it tops out at 55°C. PET-CF ($0.07/cm³) for functional parts that see moisture or moderate heat — 65 MPa and 78°C HDT. PA6-CF30 ($0.123/cm³) when you need production-grade numbers — 130 MPa and 180°C HDT. Not sure? Upload the part and tell us what it does; we'll recommend the cheapest material that clears your requirements.

How much does carbon fiber 3D printing cost?

PLA-CF and PET-CF run $0.07/cm³ of material; PA6-CF30 runs $0.123/cm³ — all published on our pricing page with a $20 order minimum. A palm-sized drone motor mount in PA6-CF30 typically lands between $25 and $60. Upload your STL for the exact number in seconds; unlike most CF shops, we never gate pricing behind a quote form.

How heat resistant are carbon fiber printed parts?

It depends entirely on the base polymer: PLA-CF deflects at 55°C, PET-CF at 78°C, and PA6-CF30 at 180°C. That last number is the difference-maker — we've reprinted customers' drone motor mounts in PA6-CF30 after motor heatsoak softened the same design in PET-CF. If your part lives near motors, engines, or electronics, start with the nylon.

How fast can I get carbon fiber parts in San Diego?

Most orders are ready the next day. Local pickup is free at our shop at 7950 Silverton Ave Ste 205, San Diego, CA 92126 — Kearny Mesa / Miramar, right off the 805. We keep all three CF materials stocked, so there's no filament lead time. Nationwide shipping is a flat $7.99 UPS Ground.
